Itinerary

We’ll meet in the parking lot at Cool Springs Wine and Spirits located in Franklin TN at 6:00AM sharp to get in our luxury van. Then we’ll begin the drive to Kentucky, and along the way our guide Pam will educate us about all the fine nuances of bourbons and bourbon tasting. She’ll fill us in about the bourbon distilleries we will be visiting over the 2 days, and the special unique treats we’ll get that normal visitors don’t have access to.

We should arrive in Bardstown Kentucky around 10:00AM, where we’ll go to these 3 distilleries to see what “special” things they may have, get a sample, and have our passport stamped:

  • Heaven Hill
  • Lux row
  • Willett

We’ll have a box lunch in the van, with lots of bottled water to keep our tummies full so we can handle all the tastings!

Next up at 1:00PM is a full, in-depth tour at Maker’s Mark Distillery, complete with tastings. This will take a couple of hours.

From there we’ll drive into downtown Louisville, where we’ll check into our hotel. We’ll rest a bit, then meet up for dinner. After dinner, the night is yours to further explore downtown Louisville.

Lunch, Dinner

After a good hearty breakfast, we’ll continue with our hard work of visiting bourbon distilleries and getting our passports stamped. This morning we’ll walk to these 4 distilleries, which are all within easy walking distance from our hotel:

  • Michters
  • Evan Williams
  • Old Forester
  • Angels Envy
We’ll check out of our hotel, then load up in the van to continue our bourbon explorations. We’ll have box lunches in the van again to save time for all the bourbon! This afternoon we’ll drive to the following distilleries to get our passports stamped and sample some more:
  • Peerless
  • Rabbit Hole
  • Bulleit
  • Stitzel-Weller
At this point, it’ll be time to head home, so we’ll drive back to Tennessee. Our goal is to get into Franklin by 8 or 9 so you’ll be able to have your Friday night dinner plans on your own.

I’m so excited about this new partnership with Pam Howard to have these regular Bourbon Trail trips. As Director of Travel Planning for Travel Avidly. I’m always on the lookout for opportunities to add fun travel experiences to our lineup, and this is one that is sure to be loads of fun. I’m a Foodie, and love to pair food with great wine, spirits or beer, so this trip is right up my alley.
