Get ready to trek into the Himalayas in a truly unique adventure! This trek will take us off-the-beaten-path into areas of Nepal rarely visited by traditional trekking tours, as this area does not have lodges. Instead, we will be doing this via fully outfitted, luxury camping, the closest to ‘glamping’ you can get in the Himalayas. This will be a Himalayan trekking adventure like no other!

Overview

The Nepal Trekking Tour is a luxury expedition-style camping trek, where we will be taken into some of Nepal’s most remote and off-the-beaten-path places. This area in central Nepal is generally unknown to adventure tourists due to lack of tourist lodges, so we’ll get to experience one of the best secluded trekking routes in a non-touristy part of the Nepal Himalayas.

This region, with altitudes under 2100 meters, and daily hiking of 5-6 hours at a relaxed pace, is suitable for the moderate hiker, and is also suitable for winter as the altitude (by Himalayan standards) is in the moderate range.

We’ll be trekking in a part of Nepal with a rich history of how the last dynasty came to rule Nepal (be prepared for the unofficial “hushed’ story). It is also one of the favorite recruitment grounds of the world-renowned Gurkha soldiers.

All camping equipment, porterage or pack animals, trek leader, assistant guides, a trekking chef, and helpers are provided. In addition, there will be a three-person tent for every two trekkers, a dining tent, a toilet tent, a portable toilet seat, and a shower tent on all our treks. This will be a Himalayan trekking adventure like no other!

Itinerary

We leave the US for our flights to Kathmandu, Nepal.

We will fly into Nepal’s capital city Kathmandu. Upon arrival we will be met by the tour representative who will transport us to the hotel. The tour leader will provide an overview of the trek to our group.

We begin our drive early in the morning after breakfast. We will take the major highway connecting Kathmandu with most of the nation. We will go west of Kathmandu with a stop at a historic part of the country where the last dynasty of rulers reigned. We have one more hour of driving from this historic place to get to our destination for the night. The total drive is around 7 to 8 hours and about 170 km. Our trekking crew will have our campsite set up, and hot beverages will be served upon arrival.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We will be awakened with a hot drink in our tents by our team, followed by a warm water bowl for washing/shaving, etc. We’ll need to pack our duffel bags and vacate our tents before breakfast. Weather permitting, the panorama of the snow-clad peaks is stunning. Langtang Lirung, Ganesh Himal, Himalchuli, Boudha, Manaslu, and the Annapurna range are visible.

We start our hike with an uphill climb. We will pass a couple of settlements to Tuppo Bhanjyang, 90 minutes and 2100 meters after beginning our trek. Then we go west on a fair-weather road as we descend slowly amidst pristine agricultural land and small hamlets.

Our kitchen crew will “speed” past us and will be preparing lunch on the route. We will have a relaxed lunch before our final stop at a Gurung village. 1630 meters. 6-hour hike.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We follow the same ‘protocol’ of getting awakened with a hot beverage and packing up before breakfast for the next few days of our camping trek. We descend for about 45 minutes to a small ravine and cross a Himalayan glacier melt river. This river is also a natural boundary between two districts.

We have a steep climb for about 75-90 minutes until we reach a Gurung village in the Char Thar area. After that, our hike continues on the fair-weather road until we get to our lunch spot, where our support crew will make hot lunch for us. After that, we continue trekking for another hour until we reach our stop for the night.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We begin walking this morning on a ‘flattish’ terrain for 45 minutes to a small stream. Then, we start our ascent from the stream through Alders, Oak, and Rhododendron forests. This is a lovely hiking route in woods that are alive with birds and wildlife. We will get glimpses of Himalchuli and Boudha Himal today. Our kitchen crew will again stop by a water source to make our lunch along the trail. We will have a long relaxing lunch stop before continuing our hike to our stop for the night. Our walk today is mostly uphill in beautiful surroundings.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We start our hike on undulating terrain for one hour before we descend past some small hamlets. We will pass a school on the way which we can visit.

We have to ascend after the village school. After that, our kitchen staff will stop at a village to make lunch. Then we trek mostly uphill in forests of Oak, Lapsi (Nepalese Hog plum), Chestnut, and Rhododendron.

We will get to experience walking on village trails in the forest. The woods are ‘alive’ with several birds such as White Crested Laughing Thrush, Kalij Pheasants, and deer. Some villagers say there were wild rabbits recently as well.

Our stop for the night is where the “Grand Panorama” of this trek is. This is a true hidden gem, experiencing how broad the panorama is!

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

We have the option of continuing to hike to the road head or do a tandem paraglide flight to the trek ending point. This is not the regular/standard paragliding typical in Nepal, its another very unique experience you won’t get from other trekking tours.

The hikers will have 3-hour downhill hike and meet with the paragliders for lunch. After lunch we have a 5-hour drive back to Kathmandu, to return to the hotel we spent the first night in.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

After breakfast, we’ll check out of the hotel 3 hours before our flight, then be transported to the airport for our international flight home.
