Our journey then takes us to the picturesque Douro Valley, home to the oldest wine appellation, where we will delight in culinary experiences paired with local wines. After taking in breathtaking views and exquisite flavors, we’ll head to Porto to savor the renowned port wine amidst the melancholic melodies of fado. This unforgettable odyssey through Portugal’s mystical allure will leave you with cherished memories and a deeper appreciation of its rich heritage.
Overview
This is the perfect trip to see the precious places of Portugal, especially for food and wine lovers. The curator of this trip, Linda, has lived in Porto for years and is a connoisseur of all things delightful. Upon arrival in Lisbon, you can either rest or explore the city’s historic charm. A welcoming dinner will introduce you to Portuguese cuisine and wines from southern Portugal. A tuk-tuk tour provides a relaxed introduction to Lisbon’s most beautiful and historic parts, with a guide sharing fascinating stories along the way, a sunset sail with a glass of wine in hand will lead us into our final day takes us in Sintra and Cascais. Sintra is home to a fairy tale-like palace and an UNESCO World Heritage Site, followed by a visit to Cascais, known for its royal and aristocratic heritage.
Next, we’ll journey by train up to northern Portugal and over to the Douro Valley. On the way, we’ll stop in Amarante to sample its famous pastries and visit the São Gonçalo Bridge and cathedral. We’ll stay in the heart of the Douro’s wine region tasting wines at truly fantastic wineries and well as exploring some of the best food you can find in the Douro.
